Sit, Stay, Laugh. - A Bigtime Benefit for Dogs
Sit, Stay, Laugh. - A Bigtime Benefit for Dogs
A doggone good night of laughs with the proceeds split between two great dog charities. The first is Birchbark, who protect and honor the human-animal bond by financial aiding low-income pet guardians who cannot afford emergency vet care, and who support all families with education and pet loss counseling programs. The second is Grand-Paws Senior Sanctuary, who rescue primarily large breed senior dos who have been abandoned in high kill shelters to live out their lives in one of their foster homes or (better yet) with a forever family when appropriate.
Stephen Turner
Stephen is an actor, comedian and musician who was born and raised in the Bay Area. He is a serial adopter of senior labradors, giving them a soft landing at his home in Tres Pinos. Though not famous, he was in The Pursuit of Happiness if you freeze the video at exactly the right spot, so his big break should be right around the corner!
Joe Klocek
Joe has appeared on Comedy Central's "Live at Gotham," NBC's "Last Comic Standing" and was a commentator for the Emmy award-winning documentary, "A Bridge so Far." Joe has also told a story on NPR's "Snap Judgement" and San Francisco's own "Bawdy."
Joe has also been a runner-up in the "San Francisco International Comedy Competition" and the "Seattle Comedy Competition."
Voted "Best Comic" in the 2011 SF Weekly Readers Poll.
Joe also had a two month "comic in residency" at the first comedy club in Shanghai, China. He has also performed in Hong Kong and Singapore.
Shanti Charan
Shanti Charan is a stand-up comedian, writer, and storyteller based in the Bay Area. The daughter of immigrants, Shanti’s humor reflects her experience as an Indo-Fijian woman, growing up as a second generation American. Charan was named San Francisco Bay Guardian’s “Best Comedian” in their Annual “Best of SF” edition. SF Weekly awarded Shanti “Best Stand Up on the Way Up”, stating Charan’s writing, “is clever and confident beyond her years”. Shanti has had the opportunity to work with and feature for Bobby Lee, Fortune Feimster, Sasheer Zamata, Ronny Chieng, Sheng Wang, Frankie Quinones, Atsuko Okatsuka and Anthony Jeselnik.
Sophia Garrow
Since moving to San Francisco in 2022, Sophia has been featured in SF Sketchfest, Limestone Comedy Festival, Vail Comedy Festival, Cheaper Than Therapy, the Palace of Fine Arts, the SF Standard and many more. Her comedy has been described as “are you sure you want to tell strangers about that?” by her mom and “but you’re still an accountant, right?” by her dad. With a mix of personal anecdotes, a dash of self deprecation, and an eerie similarity to Rosie the Riveter, Sophia will make you feel like you’ve been best friends all along..
Iain Langlands
Iain Langlands is a stand-up comedian born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. His comedy journey began at the world renowned San Francisco State University open mic. He definitely went up there and spoke into a microphone but he walked away with an insight into the comedic process. His tenacity (or as the kids call it “beast mode”) has helped him become a regular at clubs around the Bay. Iain’s routine lead him to be featured in the Asheville Comedy festival, San Francisco Sketchfest, and become a Semi-finalist in the San Francisco International Comedy Competition. He now runs and performs on 4 successful comedy shows operating weekly in the bay. All these fantastic opportunities have helped him build a routine around being Gen Z, discussions on bathroom etiquette and the highly contested “boobs verse ass” debate. Some describe seeing his act as “life changing” and “similar to witnessing a prophet preach the gospel of the lord.” But all he does is attempt to be the sweetest boy and make people go “ha-ha” “hee-hee.” :)
